Slovakian Peter Sagan surged late and won the Tour of California by three seconds on Sunday with a close third-place finish.

Swift Clinches Win At 1st Tour Of California Stage

Ben Swift of Great Britain emerged from a massive sprint finish and took the lead Monday after winning the 76.7-mile, weather-shortened and rainy opening stage of the Tour of California.

Stage 1 Of Tour Of Calif. Called Off

The start of the Tour of California was wiped out Sunday because of snow, forcing organizers to cut the event from eight to seven stages.

Cold Temps Await Tour Riders At Tahoe
