Lydia had over 10 years experience with childcare, and in 2014 decided it was time to open her own business. This fit in quite well with two of her passions: providing outstanding child care to those who need sitters or nannies and a love of the small business' ability to offer personalized service. Date Night Sitters has a simple goal — to revolutionize the childcare industry by providing reasonably priced monthly nanny services with nannies who are fully employed by Date Night Sitters. Lydia says that her company is able to give families quality, reliable and professional child care. Along with that, she offers Nannies the stability, protections and benefits which allows them to provide the best child care possible. She has some tips for parents looking to find their first regular babysitter.

Give It A Trail Run

Invite a new caregiver over for a couple hours on a day you are there. Take some time to catch up on things around the house while you monitor from a far how your children and a sitter interact. This will make both you and your child feel more comfortable when time comes for you to leave the house. Your child should be comfortable with the sitter. Just as important, you should also be comfortable with the sitter.

Don't Be Stingy

Found a babysitter you and your kids love? Burkhard's advice? Don't lose them over a few dollars. The going rate for the occasional babysitter is $10-15 per hour based on experience. A great babysitter will go out of their way to accommodate your last-minute request, even changing their own plans. An extra tip at the end of the night can go a long ways to show how much you appreciate the service they provided.

Be On The Safe Side

If the sitter you found is not family or a trusted friend, absolutely do a basic background check. You also want a  copy of their ID. A minimum of two good references is always recommend, and make certain that you check those references out. In addition, for your child's safety, a current CPR  certification and a current First Aid certification are a must. Check these certifications carefully. Bonded, insured, DMV check, along with background checks, are all baseline at DNS.

Passion And Personality

Look for a sitter who is passionate about what they do and not just about making some fast cash. A great sitter should be able to identify and embrace your child's personality, which will form a great bond with them. You want your child to want that great sitter to come back, which makes your time away much more stress free and comfortable.

Look For Diverse Experience

A babysitter who has had at least one to three years of experience, and preferably five, is a perfect candidate for your occasional child care needs. More diverse experience is desired, as the sitter will know how to react to a variety of situations. Understanding the childcare needs of multiple ages can only be gained by actually working with a variety of children, and children of different age groups. When in doubt, call the experts at Date Night Sitters.
