Gunther's Ice Cream
2801 Franklin Blvd.
Sacramento, CA 95818
(916) 457-6646
www.gunthersicecream.com

Gunther's Ice Cream is a Sacramento institution dating back to 1940 when it was opened by Herman "Pop" Gunther and his wife, Iva. They owned the shop until 1968 when it was sold to Carl Buchell. The current owner, Rick Klopp, was employed at Gunther's by Buchell, became manager and bought the business from him in 1974. The store retains much of the initial charm from its earlier days and still offers the same old-fashioned ice cream the Gunthers first started. Gunther's provides a number of awesome flavors on a daily basis but look for seasonal options like pumpkin, egg nog, black licorice, spumoni and more.
