Best Bars To Watch Thursday Night Football in Sacramento

Thursday night football is an altogether different animal than any other day or night of the week. True fans go out to their favorite bars and watch the game surrounded by other fans on a work night just because they can. There are too many Sacramento bars that show the game on Thursday nights to count. Since we as a city are gifted in this area, we decided to narrow it down to just five bars. The following bars are either local hangouts, have great beer and drink specials, awesome menus or amazing television set-ups. All are great options for Thursday night football.

Morgan's Bar & Grill
3348 S St.
Sacramento, CA 95816
(916) 455-1220
www.facebook.com/MorgansBarNGrill

Watching a game here feels like going to a friend's place. This neighborhood joint is out of the way and very charming. If you don't want to watch the game, or if your team is losing, there are plenty of other things to do. You can play darts or pool or hang out on the patio and watch the sunset. Morgan's Bar & Grill just rolled out a new menu and it has a smoker out back where it prepares delicious meats like tri-tip, ribs and brisket. The smoked meats pair perfectly with the delicious bloody Marys. As an added bonus, Morgan's has off-street parking; not many places on the grid do.

Stingers

7890 La Riviera Drive
Sacramento, CA 95826
(916) 381-4800
www.facebook.com/stingers.sportspub

With plenty of TVs, this bar is a great find. Stingers draws a mixed crowd of college students and neighborhood regulars. At halftime, you can play shuffleboard, video games, darts or pool. Everyone loves the great bloody Marys and the delicious chicken wings. Drink specials vary nightly, like $4 Red Bull Vodkas and $5 Jager bombs. Not to miss on the menu are the steak sandwich and the chicken skewers. Don't forget to come back on Wednesday when Stingers fires up the BBQ.

Alley Katz
2019 O St.
Sacramento, CA 95811
(916) 442-2682
www.facebook.com/alleykatzpubngrub

With around 100 beers on tap, this midtown hot spot is the place to be on Thursday nights, or any night for that matter. With two bar areas, one is usually more low key and one is boisterous (depending on what is going on that night). The TVs are always on. This is a great place to round up some friends and catch the Thursday night NFL games. With pool, trivia nights, comedy shows, live televised fights, cornhole and other events throughout the year, Alley Katz truly does have something for everyone.

Strings

9500 Micron Ave.
Sacramento, CA
(916) 454-1908
www.facebook.com/StringsPizzeria

Earlier this year, Strings cranked out an improved menu and a new attitude. This family-owned spot is a local favorite. It has wings to die for, the most amazing lasagna baked in a pastry with white and red sauce and probably some of the best garlic bread you will ever taste. There are six taps flowing with some great micro brews (no ho-hum domestics here). The bartender/manager, Arthur, is a huge football fan, so whether it's Thursday, Sunday or Monday, there will always be a game on.

Chargin's Bar & Grill
4900 J St.
Sacramento, CA 95819
(916) 454-1524
www.facebook.com/pages/Chargins-Bar-Grill

This is a very different mix of American and Asian, but a good mix. Chargin's has six flat-screen TVs to watch the game on, Golden Tee, darts, a jukebox, a bar-top video game collection and free wi-fi. Chargin's has been on J Street for over 30 years. Don't want to drive? Regional Transit #30 line runs every 15 minutes up and down J Street until about 10 p.m. The bar is open until 2 a.m. every day.
