Founded in 1954, the Sacramento Ballet has become one of the capital city's most popular and endearing treasures. Past performances have included "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "Alice in Wonderland," "Beauty and the Beast," and "Carmina Burana," among many others. The ballet also offers performances of classics like "Romeo and Juliet" and "The Nutcracker." In addition, the Sacramento Ballet offers a Dance Education Training Program to develop young, local artists. Several times a year the Pamela Hayes Classical Ballet brings performances of the world's favorite ballets to Sacramento. This non-profit ballet, dedicated to the preservation of classical ballets, has offered such performances as "Paquita," "Sleeping Beauty," "Swan Lake," and "La Sylphide." During the Christmas season, the Pamela Hayes Classical Ballet performs "The Nutcracker." The Pamela Hayes Classical Ballet bases their training in the Royal Academy of Dance, the largest teaching organization in the world.

The Yemaya Salsa Dance Company started in 2000 to promote and educate people about salsa dancing. The company offers group lessons, private lessons, workshops, performances, and more. Starting with a small group of just four couples, these dedicated dancers rehearsed twice a week in garages and just about anywhere with a smooth surface. The company has since grown and has been entertaining audiences in the Sacramento area and beyond.
