Best Family-Friendly Museum Exhibits In Sacramento

Visiting museums with your children can be a great bonding experience and a chance to learn new things together. The museum scene continues to evolve with exhibits and whole museums devoted to subjects beyond art and history. While Sacramento may not have as many museums as some other large cities around the United States, what what the city does have is pretty special. You can still find some great family-friendly exhibits centered around some pretty awesome subjects. Here are some of the best family-friendly museum exhibits in Sacramento.

Space Quest is one of the more popular exhibits at the The Discovery Museum. The exhibit's biggest draw is its hands on and educational experiences. The little astronauts play area is specially designed for younger visitors to dress up in space suits and play comfortably while parents remain near by to keep an eye on the action. Astronaut training is a another portion of Space Quest. Here, visitors of all ages can experience part of what astronauts go through as part of NASA's space program. There is also an exhibit which features displays and information of the other planets in the solar system. This is a fun and engaging way to have a great museum day with your kids.

On the first Monday of every month, the California State Railroad Museum Foundation hosts specialty events. One of the more popular events is All Aboard for Story Time. During this time, a staff member from the museum reads an entertaining and educational railroad related book to children between the ages of three and five 5. It is an interactive and great way to get them primed for the museum experience. From there, it is off to the exhibits with the family. The children will get to know even more about the California State Railroad Museum after seeing all the amazing equipment used in old fashioned trains.

Nothing says having fun with the kids like spending a day at a museum designed just for them. The Sacramento Children's Museum is designed to stimulate a child's mind while still keeping them entertained. They will learn about the basics of science and physics and check out exhibits where children will learn about waterways, building boats and developing whirlpools. The whole idea behind the Sacramento Children's Museum is to have the children think for themselves and develop their problem solving skills with the aid of special exhibits, some of which were created by universities.

Aerospace Museum Of California

The Aerospace Museum of California is consistently coming up with ways to have kids involved and educated while encouraging them to shoot for the stars. Currently there is Science Sunday where kids get to learn the fundamentals of electricity and forces. The chance to sit inside a mock cockpit and ride in simulators are great educational experiences for the entire family.

At the California Automobile Museum, families will get to see and learn about the development of cars. Specialty cars like the Benz Motorwagen replica are on display as well as many other timeless classics in a setting fit for the original time of its release. One of the more fun exhibits for families is Make a Move. Here, participants can touch and feel the difference in car frames and see engine cut outs as well.
