Located on the prime corner of 28th and J Streets in Midtown, Centro is a perfect spot to stop after work for some guacamole and specialty margaritas. Available in the bar area as well as the restaurant itself, Centro’s homemade thick guacamole is made with fresh avocados, white onion, Serrano chile, tomato and sprinkled with white cotija cheese — this can really hit the spot after a rough day at the office.

Centro Cocina also offers one of the biggest selections of tequilas in Sacramento (over 150) and has multiple specials throughout the week. On Friday and Saturday nights from 11 p.m. until 2 a.m., you can take advantage of 1/2 off all tequila and on the second Thursday of every month, there is a tequila social. Try the infused tequilas (straight) with an order of guacamole.

Guacamole on a burger is a heavenly delight that needs to be experienced firsthand. One of the prime spots in Sacramento for a guacamole burger fix is Burgers and Brew. Its Spicy Guacamole Cheeseburger is one of the most talked about in town. It’s made with 1/2 pound Niman Ranch beef topped with homemade spicy guacamole, jalapeno mayo and pepper jack cheese on a sesame bun. One of the best things about the guacamole burger is that you can even get it outside of Sacramento — Burgers and Brew also has restaurants in both Davis and Chico.

Not looking for a mouth-burning burger? Burgers and Brew has an avocado and jack cheese burger, or you can add guacamole to any of the other specialty burgers for $1.50 more.

Zocalo is another fine stop in Sacramento to get your guacamole fix. Its guacamole features fresh avocado, tomato, jalapeno peppers, cilantro and lime and is topped with queso fresco. Stop by during dinner to sample some of the other amazing appetizers or small plates. Recommendations include Queso Fundido with sauteed house made chorizo, steak or chicken, onions, mushrooms and queso Menonita, all baked casserole style, and Ceviche de Guaymas, made with fish or shrimp, lime and pico de gallo with avocado.  Be sure to save room for an entree though, as Zocalo’s signature green rice and black beans and homemade tortillas are a must-try.
