Time Tested Books has been a local favorite since it opened in 1981. This store offers a wide selection of quality books from inside a turn-of-the-century building. There is more to this store than just great books, however. You will also want to check out the store's collection of vinyl records or attend one of its many in-store events, which include author signings, readings, lectures and musical performances. There's a lot going on here, including opportunities to trade and sell your books and vinyl records. Hours: Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Beers Books
For more than 70 years, people have been buying, selling and trading books at Beers Books. The shelves never get static here because Beers Books' friendly staff buys books every day of the week. This means some amazing finds and long-sought-after books can often be discovered here. Beers Books also offers a special lunchtime happy hour Monday through Friday (from noon to 1 p.m.) during which 10 percent discounts are offered on all purchases. Other specials include Thursday Nights Book Fever, which also offers 10 percent off from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Second Saturday Sale offers 20 percent off on all purchases every second Saturday of the month, except for books placed on hold or special orders.
