Best Upcoming Art Festivals In Sacramento

For art connoisseurs, collectors, aficionados, artists and lookiloos, art abounds in Sacramento. In 2012, art festivals range from museum exhibits to outdoor family-friendly festivals to events in which art lovers can purchase jewelry, sculptures, paintings and more. As spring gets into full swing, get out of the house and down to one of these Sacramento art events.

Year round, displays and special exhibits are found on the calendar at the California State Capitol Museum. During the week, museum-goers can witness government in action. Sign up for one or more tours and wear comfortable shoes to enjoy art from floors to ceilings, including collections of governors' portraits and murals. You might even see Governor Jerry Brown in person. At the Kid Zone, the children can learn while having fun.

The First Friday of every month, the art center features special artists or events. A reception is held for feature artists from 5 to 9 p.m. and refreshments are served. On April 6, meet high school artists featuring their best art and sculptures; some even raffle their work. On May 4 during the Western Festival, the art center will be full with the likes of cows, horses, chickens and cowboy paintings.

Sunday, April 15 brings Art Spark, a free Family Festival for children with disabilities and chronic illnesses and their families. The Crocker is alive with music and diverse programs and exhibits. Families are welcomed to enjoy the museum and friendly fun stations set up for children of all abilities where they can learn about art and enjoy making their won art.

Festival de la Familia (Festival of the Family) is an outdoor event and one of Sacramento's multi-ethnic art and entertainment festivals. Original ancient Inca art and exhibits of indigenous culture art and crafts form over 20 Latin cultures will be displayed to the beat of Latin music and dancers amid an array of foods. This is a fun, perfect spring event for the entire family.

The museum shows off its grand collection of trains and art everyday of the year, but from May 25 to 28, during the 39th annual Sacramento Music Festival, the musicians perform aboard the trains and admission is complimentary to Music Festival badge holders. Ride the train form old along the river and let the kids have fun at a special children's stage and activity area just outside Museum.
