Best Ways To Celebrate Rosh Hashanah In Sacramento

Sunday, Sept. 13 through Tuesday, Sept. 15 marks the Jewish high holiday of Rosh Hashanah. It's a time to embrace the beginning of the Jewish new year with your family and community and celebrate your faith at synagogue and beyond. If you're new to Sacramento, are looking for a new community within the faith, or just looking for options, here's a list of goings on with in community.

Thier website also lists a number of resources for the Sac community, or an online community. The focus is on community, whether it be your first familial community, or local community at large, the Chabad of Sacramento is a great place to start.

The Federation provides many services like the JP Library, which holds kids' story time, Jewish family services, Jewish folk dancing performances and much, much more. In fact, at the conclusion of Temple services  on the 15th, (at the Temple Kol Shalom) there's Israeli folk dancing. All are welcome.

Social action is key here, and B'nai holds services and programs for every demographic imaginable.They celebrate Rosh Hashanah in a similar fashion, making the high holiday accessible with age sensitive services,as well as traditional services. From Erev to Tashlich the B'nai congregation is a wonderful, tolerant and an aesthetically pleasing way to celebrate.

Beth Shalom is all about community learning, spiritual growth and a plethora of fun programs and activities for all ages. Rosh Hashanah is celebrated, this year, with services on the 14th and 15th. Beth Shalom is focused on prayer with intention, making every prayer mired in meaning. If a certain part of any prayer moves you, the congregation encourages every individual to sit and examine, pulling even further meaning from it.

mosaiclaw.orgDoes all of this list seem too non-traditional for you? Well, Mosaic Law is the conservative congregation on this list, still promoting Jewish education and community involvement. Mosaic Law is a more  closed, with a a stricter adherence to the oldest traditions in the Jewish faith. Not as hard a line as the orthodox, not as pliable as the reformists.
