THE DEFENSE

Q: Hi Kristen! Thank you for participating in Defend Your Ride Sacramento. What can you tell us about your ride?

A: It's a 2011 Honda Pilot.

Q: Great and does it have a nickname?

A: Yes, Penelope and our other car is Felipe. It sounded like a nice little pairing. We bought her in May of 2010, two months before I had my second baby. She was pretty comfortable to sit in while I was humongous.

Q: Where did you buy the car?

A: University Honda in Davis. It was a great experience, not a lot of pressure. The salesman was friendly.

Q: Did you know that you wanted this car?

A: No, we looked at a variety of cars. We looked at the Toyota Highlander and the GMC Acadia, but I'm a loyal Honda driver. I had a Civic and an Accord and now the Pilot. We needed something bigger, something that could haul two kids, a dog and us. You're hauling pack and plays and strollers. Girls have lots of accessories!

Q: You didn't want a minivan?

A: Nope. I knew for sure I did not want a minivan. I did not want to go to the soccer mom cliché route with the minivan. My husband does call this my minivan. Besides the sliding doors, it's pretty much the same.

Q: Tell us about a recent trip you have taken that you enjoyed.

A: We went to the Children's Museum in Sausalito. We've been to Sacramento numerous times–-to Fairytale Town and the Sacramento Zoo. What I like about this car is that it's easy to park. It's just like parking my Accord or Civic.

Q: Do your girls do fine going on long car trips?

A: Yes, they're young now, but part of me wishes we'd gone with the next model up because it comes with the DVD players. I'm lucky: My girls love to be in the car. They just go and it's pretty easy to get them in and out!
