Torture Charges Dropped In Vallejo Beating Case
VALLEJO, Calif. (AP) ― Prosecutors have dropped felony torture charges against the three remaining defendants in the beating of a Vallejo high school basketball player that was caught on school security cameras.
The Solano County District Attorney's Office decided on Friday not to pursue the charges against Alexander and Abraham Tili, both 28, and 23-year-old Alonzo Brumfield. The three still face assault and gang charges in the attack on Bryant Lee outside a gym at Jesse Bethel High School on Jan. 15, 2009.
The attack left Lee unconscious and with serious injuries.
The Vallejo Times-Herald reports that the prosecution's decision followed the acquittal last month of three other adults charged with assault and torture in the case.
The defense in their trial had argued that Lee was among a group that started the fight.
