Apps Vs. Ads Which Find You The Best Black Friday Deals?

Some shoppers may think they're getting a good deal, but are they? CBS13 checked out some shopping tools that help you know if you could be saving more, somewhere else.

Your mailbox, your newspaper and your e-mail, they're all probably full of Black Friday ads. But forget sifting through them for the best deals because there's an app for that.

Julie Young is going to buy laptops for under $200, but will she really be getting the lowest price?

"I'm an avid shopper, frugal. I know what the best deal is," said Julie.

Lets challenge Julie. If you've got an iPhone or if someone's nice enough to lend you theirs, go to the app store and search for Black Friday then choose from a list of apps bragging about how they can help you find the best deals on the busiest shopping day of the year.

The app I chose says it lists up to $10,000 Black Friday deals, alerts you when there's news ads, and compares prices for items you want.

As for Julie, she's the real deal. She's a smart shopper. The $200 lap top she wanted was the lowest one we found in our app! As long as these apps are available and cater to what's on your holiday shopping list, should you ditch the ads and go for the apps?

"It's still not the same," said Julie. "I don't know, I like to look at the pictures."
