Explosion Destroys Oakland Duplex

OAKLAND (CBS13) -- One man was critically hurt after a gas explosion leveled an Oakland duplex Monday night.

Oakland firefighters said the structure was destroyed just after 8:00 p.m. near 87th Avenue and Dowling Street.

A 63-year-old man was rushed to the hospital with burns on over 80 percent of his body.

Images from the scene show most of the two-story building had been flattened, except for a wall on one side of the structure.

Four people were displaced from neighboring residences due to damage. No other injuries were reported.
