Police Identify Suspect Who Sparked Downtown Standoff

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Sacramento Police have identified a suspect at the center of a search Friday morning in the downtown area.

The suspect is 29-year-old Jonathan Adams. Adams has been booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for being under the influence.

Several streets in downtown Sacramento were closed Friday morning after police received reports of a man with a rifle in a downtown building on Q and 7th Street.

At 6:40 a.m., the suspect allegedly had a confrontation with a security guard at the building and said he had a gun. Although the security guard did not see the gun, heavily armed police and SWAT officers surrounded the building, closed off nearby streets and evacuated nearby businesses.

Police in midtown Sacramento located the vehicle believed to belong to the suspect, and at 11:45 a.m., detained the man. A pellet rifle was found inside the suspect's car.
