3 Arrested For Sac County Homicide

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- The investigation into a man found dead along the side of a Sacramento County road last week has led to the arrests of a woman and two juveniles for murder, according to authorities.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department said a person walking along Hood Franklin Road near Corky Lane near Clarksburg stumbled upon the remains of 37-year-old Sacramento resident Baljinder Kumar on December 18, 2010.

Authorities said there were no obvious signs of trauma and treated the death as suspicious.

The California Highway Patrol spotted Kumar's vehicle driving in Oroville the next day and detained the driver, 20-year-old Cassondra Ladawnya Belton for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property. Two other occupants inside the car, a 17-year-old male and a 17-year-old female, were taken into custody with Butte County Child Protective Services.

Homicide detectives believe Belton and the two juveniles murdered Kumar and dumped his body. Kumar knew the suspects, authorities said.

The two juveniles were returned to Sacramento and have been charged with murder and robbery. Belton will likely be sent back to Sacramento to face charges of murder, investigators said.
