Man Arrested For Lockeford Bank Robbery

LOCKEFORD (CBS13) - San Joaquin Sheriff's Deputies have arrested a man they believe robbed a Bank of the West in Lockeford Thursday by saying he had a bomb. 
 
Robert Mehrten was arrested in connection with the robbery at the bank in the 13000 block of East Highway 88.

Deputies say the robber pushed a note to the teller saying he had a bomb.

She handed over the cash and he took off but left behind a suspicious package.

The bank had to be evacuated and the bomb squad called out.

The package was eventually detonated safely.

Surveillance video helped lead deputies to Mehrten who was arrested outside his home without incident Thursday night.
