Athletes Sue Northern California College For Discrimination

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A group of former football players at a Northern California community college are accusing the school of cutting them and others from the team because they're black.

A federal lawsuit filed Tuesday in Sacramento federal court accuses Feather River College in Quincy of discriminatory practices, including last year's dismissal of 18 black players.

Three of the dismissed players filed the lawsuit.

They're represented by the same attorney who sued the school last year on behalf of former assistant coach Eric Small, who alleges that he was passed over for a promotion last year because he's black.

Small recruited many of the dismissed players.

The school has denied Small's allegations. Officials did not immediately return a call for comment on the latest lawsuit.
