Armed Bank Robbery Suspect At Large

LIVERMORE, Calif. (CBS13) -- Investigators say an armed bank robber managed to slip away from a police perimeter earlier this week.

The unidentified man brandished a black semi-automatic pistol at a Bank Of America store on the 1700 block of Railroad Avenue on Thursday and fled after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the Livermore Police Department.

Phone calls from witnesses and a bank alarm notified authorities to the crime, and officers followed up on a tip that the suspect's vehicle was traveling westbound on Interstate 580.

Investigators tracked the suspect to an apartment complex near the border of Oakland and Piedmont and set up a perimeter around the area. The suspect was not located.

The suspect is described as a white or light-skinned Hispanic male, about six feet tall and weighing 180 pounds.
