Storm To Bring Rain Overnight

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A winter storm is expected to arrive overnight bringing with it high winds and up to ½ inch of rain to the Sacramento Valley.

Locations above 5,000 feet could receive up to a foot of wet snow.

A high wind advisory will go into effect at midnight and last until noon on Wednesday. During that time, expect to see winds from SSE at 20-30 mph with gusts at 40-50 mph.

A winter storm warning will go into effect at locations above the 5,000-foot level and will expire at 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Estimated Sierra snowfall levels are as follows:

    5000' 2-4" Snow (Blue Canyon)
6000' 4-8" Snow (Kingvale, Twin Bridges)
    7000' 8-12" Snow (Ski Resorts)

Winds will die down by Thursday, but we will see the chance for another round of valley rain and Sierra snow during the day Thursday.
