Reward In Sikh Murder Case Tops $42K
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- The reward for tips leading to an arrest and conviction in the Sacramento-area shooting of two turbaned Sikh men during their afternoon stroll has passed $42,000.
Local Jewish organizations on Wednesday added $10,000. The total represents support from more than a dozen groups.
The two elderly victims, one shot fatally, might have been perceived as Muslim because of their appearance.
An interfaith prayer vigil will be held at 6 p.m. Friday south of the state capital at East Stockton Boulevard and Geneva Point Drive in Elk Grove, where 65-year-old Surinder Singh was shot dead and 78-year-old Gurmej Atwal was critically wounded.
Singh's funeral, open to the public, is 10 a.m. Saturday at North Sacramento Funeral Home, 725 El Camino Ave.
