Good Samaritan, K-9 Help Nab Burglary Suspect

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- An alert neighbor helped track down an alleged burglary suspect in a Curtis Park neighborhood, allowing a police K-9 to find and subdue the suspect.

Gregory Marr said he saw 20-year-old Gjuan Henderson walking away from his neighbor's residence when he arrived home Tuesday and tried to confront him.

Instead of stopping, Marr said Henderson immediately took off in a "full-on sprint."

"I thought, okay, that doesn't look right to me," Marr said.

As the accused thief fled out of sight, Marr got into his truck and started searching nearby streets while calling authorities.

"I was a dispatcher for 911 in Santa Cruz for 18 years," Marr said.

Marr said he spotted Henderson preparing to break into another home and notified police.

Henderson had no idea that police were on the way, Marr said. When police arrived, a K-9 unit tracked him down and caught him inside the home.

Henderson was arrested for burglary, possession of marijuana and violation of parole and is being held without bail.
