Mother Uses Gun To Scare Off Convicted Rapist After Attack On Daughter

PLACERVILLE (CBS13) – A Placerville mother used a gun to scare off a man she says assaulted her daughter.

Craig Burgess is a registered sex offender but he registered so recently, he isn't even on the Megan's Law registry yet.

Burgess was running from the law when he spent the night at a friend's house and the young girl living there allegedly became his latest victim.

The girl told her mother who took out a gun and told Burgess he better get out.

Burgess hid at his grandmother's house but eventually turned himself in.
 
Burgess' bail is set at more than a million dollars and right now he is still behind bars.
