Grandmother Arrested For Kidnapping 4-Month-Old Baby

KNIGHTSEN, Calif. (CBS13) -- Investigators arrested the grandmother who allegedly kidnapped a baby from a Contra Costa County home and drove her to Southern California.

The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office said the El Monte Police Department arrested 58-year-old Ericka Gallego on Monday after finding 4-month-old Ramy Gallego safe in her possession.

Ericka was booked into the Los Angeles County Jail on kidnapping charges and is being held on $150,000 bail.

Ramy's parents called police Sunday morning and reported that the baby was missing from her bassinet. They put the baby to bed at about 10:00 p.m., but when they woke up at 6:00 a.m., Ramy was gone.

Ramy's father said Ericka broke into their home overnight and drove to a friend's house in Southern California.
