Suspect Killed By Manteca Officer

MANTECA, Calif. (CBS13) – A suspect died after an officer-involved shooting in Manteca on Wednesday evening.

Authorities said a 10-year veteran of the Manteca Police Department pulled over a male subject during a traffic stop in the 200 block of Flores Avenue at around 6:45 p.m.

Few details have been released about the events that followed the traffic stop, but the Manteca Police Department said the situation escalated until the officer drew his weapon and fired at the suspect, fatally wounding him.

The identities of the involved officer and subject have not been released.

The officer has been placed on administrative leave, per standard policy involving an officer-involved shooting.
