Death Of Marysville Woman Still A Mystery

MARYSVILLE, Calif. (CBS13) – As family members mourned the death and celebrated the life of a mother of two who was found dead in a lake last month, authorities are still searching for clues in her death.

The Marysville Police Department said 35-year-old Kimberly Merritt was found dead by two teens who were fishing in Ellis Lake on May 25. Emergency responders were unable to resuscitate her.

Investigators haven't received autopsy results yet and have not released a cause of death, but said the circumstances surrounding her death are suspicious.

The Marysville Raceway Park honored Merritt on Saturday, remembering the mother of two boys who used to race mini-stock cars and spent every Saturday night cheering on her family's team.

Kimberly's brother, Shaun, changed his car's number to 76 to reflect the year she was born.

"I'll be running that for her," he said.

Investigators still want to talk to anyone who may have seen Kimberly Merritt at Ellis Lake on the morning of May 25.
