Tylar Witt Sentencing Postponed To Same Day As Former Lover

EL DORADO COUNTY (CBS13) – The sentencing of a teenage girl who admitted to helping plan her mother's murder two years ago has been postponed.

Tylar Witt agreed to a plea deal with prosecutors in the 2009 killing of Joanne Witt at her El Dorado Hills home.  Tylar was 14 at the time of the murder.

In exchange for testifying against her former boyfriend, Steven Colver, Witt will be sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.

A jury found Colver guilty of first-degree murder last week.

Witt, who was scheduled to be sentenced today, will now be sentenced on Aug. 15, the same day as Colver.

Prosecutors say the then-19-year-old Colver stabbed Joanne Witt 20 times because he was terrified of going to jail after she reported him for statutory rape of her daughter Tylar.
