Buy It And Try It: The Space Bag

It claims to triple your storage space, either in your closet, or your suitcase, just by vacuum packing. It's the Space Bag. So could it really work? We found just the person to help us buy it and try it.

Good Day Sacramento entertainment reporter Mark S. Allen is on the road a lot -- about 26 weeks out of the year.

And he's got packing down to a science. So what if we could give him something to save him some space?

Introducing the space bag! There's the large bag, which requires a vacuum, and the small suitcase version, that rolls out the air.

So in go the contents of mark's suitcase and three bags, and mark's suitcase later, it's time to empty the air.

But that was one of three, so we try the large bag, but unlike the suitcase sacks, we vacuum the air out of this one. But after all is said and done, mark says he wasn't impressed.

"You know what's weird, it all fit in there better before. Maybe it's me, maybe it's the technique, but I'm not thrilled," said Mark.

So in the end, Mark switched back to his old method.

Mark alluded to it there, it seems the flatter, or more compact you "pack" your space bag, the better it flattens, so we had a little bit of user error. It worked on the large bag, but two of the three luggage bags had a problem staying sealed. You can get them at spacebag.com for about $20.
