Buy It And Try It: Tide To-Go Stick

Meet Carolyn Pecinovsky and daughter Sharon. They've got a hobby buying and trying advertised products.

They like anything that will make their lives easier. Both watch us on Friday nights to see what we're trying out.

And they test stuff we haven't. Just look at some of the products they've tried in the past few months.

How much money do you waste on products that don't work?

"I'd hate to say but she estimates it's in the hundreds over the past year."

"Very disappointing especially when you pay good money for something and you throw it away because it doesn't work."

But when something does work they get excited.

Sharon wrote me this e-mail.

"I was wondering if you have ever tried Tide To-Go. I've tried it, and it works."

Tide To-Go, the instant stain remover that claims to work on anything from tea and coffee, to wine and ketchup.
You may have seen the commercial with Kelly Ripa using it on her husband's wine stained shirt.

Ok so the Pescinovsky's say Tide To-Go works. We'll see about that.

We'll just accidentally spill things here and there.

We raid the Pecinovsky fridge and head outside with some mess making material and two white shirts.

Our weapons right here: ketchup, coffee, wine, BBQ sauce and perhaps the most damaging of all, strawberries. Let the accidents begin.

We follow the directions.

It says remove excess residue from the stain, and we do. First on some chocolate stained shorts we apply the marker to the stain and start coloring. A special cleaning fluid comes out of the tip.

"Oooh, look what's happening."

This three-day old chocolate stain comes right out.

Now to our messy shirts. Keep in mind this isn't meant for big stains, but we're going to try it on the coffee mess anyway.

"It's coming up, but it's going to take time."

Seems to work. Now the strawberries.

"It's coming up some, but not a whole lot."

Doesn't seem to wanna come out. How about the ketchup?

"Oh that comes off really good."

I feel like I'm back in kindergarten again.

It works on the barbecue sauce too.

And we're convinced the Tide To-Go works on most stains.

And for the others, "It may not take away 100-percent, but it'll lighten it so you wouldn't be embarrassed."

So when a product comes along that works I tell everyone, yes. And you smile, oh yeah, and I feel good.
