NorCal Wineries Caught Serving Minors In Tasting Rooms

SONOMA (CBS SF) – Four Sonoma County wineries were caught serving alcohol to minors in a decoy sting that focused on tasting rooms over the weekend.

The decoy operation involved two 18-year-old minors who worked with the Sonoma Police Department and the state Department of Alcohol Beverage Control for four hours on Saturday afternoon, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office.

The minors went to ten different tasting rooms and were served alcohol at four of them, according to the sheriff's office.

Employees at Valley of the Moon Winery, BR Cohn Winery, Imagery Estate Winery and Schug Winery were cited for serving alcohol to the underage drinkers.

The wineries will be referred to the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control for administrative sanctions.

The decoy operation was conducted with a $25,000 grant to the Sonoma Police Department to reduce underage drinking in the Sonoma Valley area.
