Suspected Drunken Driver Nearly Hits Roseville Firefighter

ROSEVILLE (CBS13) -- A man suspected of being drunk behind the wheel nearly hit a Roseville firefighter on an emergency call late Wednesday night, according to the fire department.

Firefighters were at the Sunrise Retirement Villa at 707 Sunrise Ave. when a man drove his 1992 Mazda sedan through the parking lot, first striking a parked ladder truck and then narrowly missing a firefighter who was walking in the same area, the fire department said.

The firefighter, whose name wasn't released, took the keys away from Thomas Rolland Michael, 57, of Roseville and detained him until Roseville police officers arrived.

There was only minor damage to the ladder truck and no one was injured.

Michael was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving on a suspended license. He was booked into the Placer County Jail on $50,000 bail.
