Fire Strikes Famed Chef's Bakery In Yountville

YOUNTVILLE (AP) -- Authorities believe an electrical problem was to blame for a fire at famed French Laundry chef Thomas Keller's bakery in Yountville.

Napa County Fire Capt. Jim Christison said the blaze at Bouchon Bakery started around 5:20 a.m. Thursday above an oven. It caused an estimated $100,000 in damage.

Three employees who were at the bakery escaped without injury.

Christison says it appears something electrical above the oven started the blaze although investigators are still trying to determine the exact cause.

It's not clear when the bakery will reopen. It makes the bread for all of Keller's restaurants.
