Suspect Sought In Modesto Attempted Kidnapping

MODESTO (CBS13) -- A 16-year-old girl fought off a kidnapping attempt as she walked home from school on Thursday, according to Modesto police.

The girl, an Elliot Alternative Education Center student was walking home from school at about 12:45 p.m. in the area of Roseburg Avenue and Melrose Avenue when she was approached by a man in a grey Lexus, police said. The suspect asked the student if she wanted a ride and when she declined, he drove away.

However, as she continued to walk on Roseburg approaching Nelson Avenue, the suspect again drove up to her. This time he exited his car, grabbed her arm and tried to drag her into the passenger side of his vehicle, police said.
