DAVIS (CBS13) – A driver died after slamming a car into a tree in Davis overnight, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Witnesses say the driver of the Subaru was changing lanes on Interstate 80 at Richards Boulevard when the driver may have lost control.

CHP says the car slid into the tree crumpling the front of the car and killing the driver.

Investigators are trying to determine if speed played a factor.

The name of the victim has not been released.

    At this woman’s age she knew better. She showed disregard for others on the road. Wonder how many other times she drove drunk. Luckily she only killed herself. Sad, but that is the price you pay.

      Another site stated that it was a woman and she was 43 years old. It was strongly indicated that there was speed and alcohol involved. She was not wearing a seat belt.
