Woman Credited With Saving Life Of Truck Driver

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A 22-year-old San Francisco woman is being credited with saving the life of a truck driver after his truck overturned on Highway 101 early Wednesday.

Keenia Williams was taking her 5-year-old daughter to school when she saw a truck hauling dry cement overturn on the highway in San Francisco around 5 a.m.

The truck driver, 52-year-old Michael Finerty of Concord, was able to get out of the burning truck, but collapsed a few feet away.

Officials say Williams dragged Finerty to safety, then yelled to firefighters who thought he was trapped in the burning truck.

During a press conference Wednesday afternoon, San Francisco Fire Department Chief Joanne Hayes-White told Williams that at "great risk, you saved a man's life."

Finerty was taken to a hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

The crash forced the closure of southbound 101 for more than six hours.
