SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A woman has been found dead under suspicious circumstances in an apartment complex Saturday evening, authorities said.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an apartment unit on the 5400 block of College Oak Drive after a female victim with substantial trauma to her upper body was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead.

Investigators said a bystander was waved down by an elderly man in the apartment complex who is unable to speak but signaled that he needed help. The bystander found the victim and called authorities.

The identity of the victim and the circumstances surrounding her death has not been released. The elderly man is not considered to be a suspect.
