Injured Firefighter Transferred To Rehabilitation Center

SACRAMENTO (AP) — A state fire captain has been transferred to a rehabilitation center to continue recovering from injuries she suffered when a burning home partially collapsed.

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection says Capt. Sue Arrouzet suffered a serious back injury.

She was helping other firefighters with a house fire Nov. 12 in the Sierra foothills community of Copperopolis when part of the structure collapsed. Two other firefighters had minor injuries.

Arrouzet, who is 45, was rushed to a hospital in Modesto immediately afterward. The department said Wednesday that she has been transferred to the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose.

She will stay there while she undergoes rehabilitation.

Arrouzet is a 22-year veteran of the department who lives in Tracy.
