Sacramento Taxi Driver Beaten And Robbed At Gunpoint

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A Sacramento cab driver who was beaten, robbed and had his cab stolen overnight is pleading with the community to help find the suspects and to stop these kind of attacks.

Mohammad Akhtar says he attacked at 4:15 this morning in the Meadowview area by an armed man.

Akhtar had picked up three women and the man at a home on First Avenue and took them to Loma Verde Way where he dropped off the women. A little while later, the man punched Akhtar and then robbed him at gunpoint taking money, a cell phone and his taxi van.

The stolen taxi van is a 2004 Chevrolet Venture with a red roof and taxi cab yellow body with California license plate #8Y52925.

Akhtar and some fellow cab drivers spoke at an informal press conference asking for the public to respect cab drivers.
