Positive Reviews For Folsom Renovations

FOLSOM (CBS13) — If you've recently taking a stroll through historic Folsom, you've seen the changes, with improved parking, wheelchair accessible ramps, and still that small town charm.

"It's beautiful. So nice, a nice quiet Sunday," said one visitor to the renovated downtown area.

"Now that I'm working on one knee replacement and getting ready for another, I'm so happy with the ramps and everything," said another visitor.

Sutter Street is a bigger draw for many longtime residents.

"A lot of us like to spend a lot more time down here now," one said.

But is the extra foot traffic translating to an increase in sales for local businesses?

Operators at Dorothea's Christmas on Sutter Street says sales are significantly higher now than before the construction began in 2008.

"Business has been great since they finished," said Lyda Harley. "We're very excited."

And they're not the only ones profiting from historic Folsom's facelift.

Snooks Candies, a family-owned business for 26 years, says it's been a great season so far.

"It's been a fantastic year," confectioner Eric Snook said. "The renovation has actually helped quite a bit drew a lot of people."
