UPDATE: Young Sugar Bowl Accident Victim Was From Davis

NORDEN (CBS13) — The 7-year-old boy who fell 60 feet from a Sugar Bowl Resort ski lift on Sunday and died from his injuries on Tuesday was a Davis resident, according to a Sugar Bowl official.

John Henderson was a two-year member of the resort's ski team and an excellent skier, according to Bill Hudson, the team's executive director. Riding with two other ski team members, Henderson fell from the Mount Lincoln Express Chairlift at about 11:15 a.m. Sunday onto hard terrain.

Henderson had surgery to relieve pressure from his brain but the resort announced Tuesday that he had passed away at Renown Medical Center in Reno.

The incident remains under investigation by regulators from the state, working in conjunction with Sugar Bowl Resort personnel.

Grief counselors have been made available to the ski team, which has about 400 members ages 5 to 18.
