The Grant Napear Show - December 29, 2011

Today's show came live from Power Balance Pavilion, where the Kings are preparing to take on the visiting Chicago Bulls. Sacramento is looking to bounce back from a loss in Portland after the season-opening thriller over the Lakers.

In the first hour, NFL Analyst Charles Davis broke down the 49ers' chances of having success in the playoffs and compares Alex Smith to Bart Starr. Charles also discussed the race for NFL MVP as Drew Brees has made a late charge for the after Aaron Rodgers appeared to be running away with the award. By breaking Dan Marino's single-season passing record, Brees has seized the headlines in recent weeks but may not yet have done enough to surpass Rodgers. Charles then talked about the Eagles' resurgence in the second half of the year despite being eliminated from playoff contention and finished the segment with high praise for Cam Newton's rookie campaign.

During hour two, Grant fielded calls on everything from the 49ers' Pro-Bowl selections to Paul Westphal's (alleged) indecisiveness when it comes to setting a rotation. Midway through, Chris Landry of Fox Sports Radio looked at the future of the Raiders, the NFL Playoffs, and the BCS National Championship game.

After the rant, defensive lineman Richard Seymour of the Raiders talked about the disappointing season in Oakland and how the team can learn from it moving forward to next year. He also speculated on how many more years he might have left in the tank.

Jason Ross commandeered the program for the final half hour before handing it over to the Kings' pregame show.
