Suspect Leonard Dale Tuttle Jr., 30, was spotted by another motorist traveling on Highway 101 near Covelo. The motorist contacted the CHP and officers responded and arrested Tuttle without incident. The girls were not harmed and were being returned to their mother, according to the Willows Police Department.

Police say 2-year-old Randi Nylaya Martinez and 5-year-old Vanessa Autumn Martinez were kidnapped by Tuttle Friday morning at about 9:30 in Willows. Tuttle reportedly told the girls' mother, Nancy Martinez, he was taking the girls to Walmart to buy each a gift and they never returned.

Tuttle, 6 feet, 7 inches tall and 360 pounds, is Martinez's former boyfriend and came to her family's home in Willows to try to reconcile, according to police.

After his arrest, he was taken to the Mendocino County Jail and was transported back to Glenn County to be booked on kidnapping, child stealing and conspiracy charges.

Also arrested on the same charges was Melissa Britton, 45, of Willows. Police didn't specify what role Britton played in the alleged incident.
