UPDATE: Woman, 3-Year-Old Drown In Woodbridge Pool
WOODBRIDGE (CBS13) – A 3-year-old girl and her grandmother died after being found floating in the backyard pool of a home in Woodbridge, according to the Woodbridge Fire Department.
A crew from American Medical Response was called to the home on Sandstone Court at 10:43 Thursday morning for reports of a possible drowning.
San Joaquin County Sheriff's spokesman Les Garcia says a man who regularly mows the lawn found the pair in the pool and pulled them out. It's unclear how long they were in the pool before being discovered.
The 3-year-old apparently fell in the pool and the grandmother, who could not swim, jumped in to rescue the girl, Garcia said.
The two were transported to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead.
"There's a woman who comes by every day after they (the girls' parents) leave for work," said a neighbor who didn't know the woman, described as in her 60s, was the girl's grandmother.
Another neighbor said the woman walked the girl daily in her stroller through the neighborhood.
