Orangevale Kids' Baseball League Snack Shack Robbed Twice

ORANGEVALE (CBS13) - Vandals struck not once, but twice, stealing candy and snacks from a local baseball league.

The crooks ripped off thousands of dollars, leaving the kids feeling completely violated. The Orangevale Pony League president, Matt Molini, says the vandals broke off the deadbolt but couldn't get in.

Next, they tried peeling off the windows; and when that didn't work, they came around to the other side where they finally broke in.

"That's quarter-inch steel they peeled back. They were determined to get in here and get some candy," said Molini

Every piece of candy, drinks, and snacks worth more than $2,000 is gone.

"You're taking from the kids; bottom line; you're stealing from kids," said Molini.

But that wasn't enough for the thieves.

"See the damage here? It's from the second time they came," said Molini.

A few days later says the vandals returned.

"They dumped the refrigerator over and that's why it's all over the floor," said Molini.

The snack place is kind of isolated behind Louis Pasteur middle school.

"They can pound on it for a while and no one hears them," said Molini.

Witnesses reported seeing at least two people in their mid-twenties putting the stolen goods in a car nearby.

Now the kids are forced to work harder on fundraising to make up the lost funds.

"Really, this far in the season the only way we can recoup the money is fundraising and donations," said Molini.

A fundraiser is set up this week at the Big Spoon Yogurt.
