Sacramento Bulldog Saves Owner From Intruder Attack

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A Tahoe Park mother, home with her sleeping baby, was attacked by an intruder. Then her 120-pound bulldog came to her rescue.

Teresa Nichols is thankful her very vocal dog was anything but nice Wednesday.

"He was actually sleeping. I was in the kitchen cleaning floors," said Nichols.

That's when she says an intruder broke through a window and came straight at her, knocking her to the ground and punched her in the face. But, all the stay-at-home mom could think about as she tried to fight off her attacker was her baby, Wyatt.

"The first thing I thought about was him, thankful he was asleep," said Nichols.

She struggled with the intruder for about a minute, becoming more convinced by the second that he would win.

"I just felt really hopeless," said Nichols. "There was nothing I could do."

Until her sleeping giant woke up and saw his owner was in trouble.

"I was trying to push him off and that's when Otis saw me. He jumped off the couch and ran after him," said Nichols.

The 170-pound man was no match for the 120-pound bulldog in full protection mode.

"He just kind of nipped him, he didn't have any wounds," said Nichols. "He seemed like he was very startled. I don't think he expected a dog in the house at all."

But Otis's bark was bigger than his bite, enough to send the man running.

"I'm so thankful. He's such a good boy," said Nichols.

A good boy and this mom's best friend, there when she needed him most.
