Cespedes Back With A's, Manny Stays In Minors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - The Oakland Athletics reinstated outfielder Yoenis Cespedes from the disabled list Friday while slugger Manny Ramirez remained at Triple-A Sacramento.

Cespedes went 3 for 9 on a rehab assignment for Sacramento before being activated prior to Friday night's game against Kansas City. He had missed 22 games with a strained muscle in his left hand.

Cespedes was hitting .245 with five homers and 21 RBIs in 28 games before getting hurt, and should provide a boost for an Oakland offense that has struggled during an eight-game losing streak.

Ramirez could also help when he finally arrives. It was widely speculated that he could join the team after his 50-game drug suspension expired Wednesday, but he remained with Sacramento after missing Thursday night's game with hamstring tightness.
