Sacramento Kings Forward Donte Greene Hosts Basketball Camp

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Fathers and their sons hit the court with a King on Father's Day.

Demonte Robinson may only be eight-years-old but he knows what he loves, basketball.

It's no surprise he wants to be a basketball player.

"On the Kings team," said Robinson.

So to play with one of his favorites was a real treat.

"I get to practice with a professional basketball player," said Robinson.

That player was Sacramento Kings forward Donte Greene.

"He's the best on the kings," said Robinson.

Greene, a fan favorite, hosted a two-day basketball camp for kids at Sutter Middle School in Sacramento.

"We just try to come out and show kids there's ways to be successful and be active," said Greene.

He was born in Munich, Germany.

"I guess you can say a military kid," said Greene.

Not a kid anymore, the six-foot-ten star says he's made Sacramento home.

"To be able to come out, interact with the kids' parents, it's good at the end of the day," said Greene.

And at the end of the day, this is where he says he wants to stay.

"I don't want to go anywhere, this is home. My family's been here so it's all good," said Greene.

But he understands that it's not up to him whether to stay or go. Ultimately he says it's out of his control.

"That's out of our hands. We kind of leave it up to the owners in the front office and we just worry about how we play on the court," said Greene.

He wants to give fans like Robinson a good show.

"We have the greatest fans in the NBA," said Greene.

"I really appreciate things like this. It makes me even more of a fan," said Kyle Robinson, a parent.

Greene hopes to host another basketball camp next year.
