Rancho Murieta Crash Kills 63-Year-Old Woman

RANCHO MURIETA (CBS13) - A pickup truck collided with a motor home in Rancho Murieta on Wednesday, killing a passenger in the motor home.

The accident happened at around 12:30 p.m. at Jackson Road and Murieta South Parkway. A pickup truck traveling west on Highway 16 (Jackson) drifted into east bound lane for an unknown reason and collided with the motor home, which was pulling a boat.

A 63-year-old female passenger in motor home died at the scene after the motor home caught fire and she was reportedly trapped inside. The 69-year-old driver was transported by ambulance to Kaiser Permanente South.

The teen driver of the pickup truck had to be extricated and was airlifted to UC Davis Medical Center.

The crash also sparked a one-acre grass fire that was quickly extinguished.

A propane tank, likely from the motor home, also spilled on to the roadway and was cleaned up by Sacramento Metro firefighters.

The accident scene, adjacent to the Rancho Murieta Country Club golf course, is expected to be closed for several hours.
