Body Of 6-Year-Old Boy Recovered At Yosemite

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK (CBS13) - The body of a 6-year-old boy who drowned along with his brother last week was recovered Thursday at Yosemite.

Jacob Adams and his brother Andy, 10, were swept into the Merced River on Aug. 15 near the Vernal Fall Footbridge.

Andy was pulled from the river by a park visitor shortly after the incident, but resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.

Extensive search efforts for Jacob have been ongoing since the incident. Park rangers located his body Thursday about 50 yards downstream from the Vernal Fall Footbridge.

Fluctuating water levels in the river, changing weather conditions and treacherous terrain contributed to a difficult and challenging search, park officials said.

However, with receding water levels in the Merced River and dry weather over the last few days, rangers have been able to access areas within the river corridor that were previously difficult to search.
