The Don Geronimo Show - September 26, 2012

Don begins by telling us about the new reality show he's really into- "Breaking Amish," about some Amish kids who are put in New York City to see what life is outside of Amish country. He also tells us about the show that comes on afterwards, about a 2 headed girl, and the guys talk about what it would be like to date her. Don then tells us that he's gained 36 pounds, and is going on a diet. After the guys, led by Phantom, give him a good taunting, we get a visit from the great Phil Simms, ex-NFL quarterback and broadcaster for NFL on CBS and "Inside The NFL" on Showtime. Phil, who is calling the Oakland/Denver game this weekend, tells us why he thinks the replacement refs will be back by Week 5, who he thinks are the best and worst teams in the NFL, and what it's like to be one of the voices on Madden 13.

We then get breaking news that singer Andy Williams has passed away at the age of 84, so naturally Don calls Abe Vigoda to break the news. Don then revisits the email he got from a listener yesterday, who had to foreclose on his house, and was struggling to pay rent. Don calls the listener, "Big Ed," who tells us about his financial struggles, and how hard it is for he and his family to stay afloat. Don tells Ed that he'll help him out, and then asks listeners to drop by the station with donations. We then hear a few new clips, including the NFL's report on the Monday Night Football debacle, and the bio of the official who mistakenly ruled the final play a touchdown.

After a battle of parody songs between Steve and Little Joe's show prep site, Don tells us that Armstrong and Getty have been suspended, and he then tells us a story about a "fake suspension" that was staged at Power 105 during the "Don and Mike" days. He also tells us about his GM at Power 105, Al Goodman, and all the crazy things that went down while he worked there. Our good friend Jeff Tarbell then calls in, with a $3,000 donation for Big Ed. Don then calls Big Ed to tell him the good news.

It's then time for the "Phantom News Hour." Today, Phantom tells us that the NFL is close to an agreement with the real refs, the passing of Andy Williams, Americans will spend $8 billion on Halloween this year, and a guy shoots his friend while trying to cure his hiccups. And of course, Don wraps everything up with a caller 100!
